Welcome to Enfield’s Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education (SACRE) website.

The Enfield SACRE advises the Local Authority on matters related to Religious Education (RE) and Collective Worship (CW) in schools and publishes an annual report of its work and actions taken by its representatives, which are supported by a two-year development plan.

Enfield is a diverse borough in terms of ethnicity. The high-quality teaching and learning of RE has an important contribution to make to our schools and to meet the needs of Enfield pupils who are members of local, national and global communities.

The provision and quality of RE & CW is monitored by the Enfield SACRE, which also provides advice and support to schools. One of our duties is to write an Agreed Syllabus (last updated in 2017) for schools outlining the curriculum for RE; this is supported by a scheme of work for Primary Schools consisting of 33 units set across three terms. To further support the teaching in learning in schools across the borough, the Enfield SACRE supports ongoing training for RE Subject Leaders, Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) at KS1 & KS2 and termly RE TeachMeets, providing RE updates and essential networking opportunities for subject leaders.
